ABBOTSFORD, BC – June 3, 2013 – What does hockey have to do with business success, you might ask.  Apparently more than a little, especially when you consider that major sport teams and their wins on the field are in direct proportion to how successfully they are managed.  Which is why, Ryan Walter, famed National Hockey League player, coach and successful businessman will be the guest speaker of honor at the upcoming Fraser Valley Business Network Meetup.

The Fraser Valley Business Network (FVBN) Meetup will be held on July 17, 2013 starting at 4 pm.  Location will be the Red 21 Restaurant inside Chances Casino in Abbotsford.  The cost is only $5 for FVBN Members and $10 for non-members and includes the reception to follow the speaker event. Proceeds from this event go towards the maintenance, technical costs, materials, and promotional activities of the Fraser Valley Business Network and for the support of future meetups.

The group started online 2 years ago, and began face-to-face meetings just this past fall in Abbotsford. In just 3 months, attendance has doubled from 30 to 60, and membership is growing weekly. New meetups are planned for Chilliwack, Mission, Langley, Cloverdale, and Maple Ridge throughout 2013.

FVBN's fresh networking formats and strategies are drawing a renewed interest to this classic marketing method. Business owners are looking for opportunities to meet other local entrepreneurs, managers, and professionals.

“I think it is a very needed organization in the Fraser Valley. I look forward to seeing where it goes and being part of it.” Local artisan Alicia Champ, Hip Navy Beads.

"Great meetup, nice turnout, and I appreciate how it was so well organized. Will be there next month." Keith Dobie, Pathfinder Productions.

For its first fundraising effort, FVBN raised $110 for the Abbotsford Food Bank. From December 12 - 24th, $10 from every membership and event registration went to the Abbotsford Food Bank.

FVBN also launched a website, (www.fraservalleybusinessnetwork.com) aimed at promoting and connecting local businesses with a directory and event listing. The site will be of tremendous value to entrepreneurs, business professionals and small businesses.

"FVBN consists of an amazing group of people offering incredible business services and products throughout the Fraser Valley. Attending a meeting is a very warm, friendly and professional experience." Jennifer Henczel, FVBN Found.
